New Providence, Bahamas
The Islands of The Bahamas
New Providence is often erroneously to as Nassau, the name of the Capital city of the Bahamas, which dominates this tiny island. Despite it's relatively small size
(approximately 21 by 7 miles) the island of New Providence is the economic engine of the Bahamas, as well as a global centre for tourism and finance.
Over 60% of The Bahamas' 325,000 people live on the Island of New Providence, which is the location of The Nassau International Airport and the Prince George Wharf cruise ship docks, through which will pass the majority of the nearly 5 million tourists planning to visit The Bahamas this year.
New Providence is also sometimes lumped together with it's even tinier neighbor, Paradise Island. Connected by two modern bridges, Paradise Island is home to the world famous Atlantis resort and other vacation properties.
